If you are considering running in the Oct. 21 election you must file your papers on Monday, Sept. 23. Those elected this time will be in office for four years. There will be elections for town councils, MD councils and school boards.

Carseland is hosting a bridge tournament on Oct. 3. There is a notice on the bulletin board. These bridge days are always a lot of fun and the lunch alone is worth the price of admission. The garden club welcomed Barry Crane on Thursday.

The campaigning for Okotoks town council will be hotly contested and residents will certainly (at least they should be) pay close attention.

Albertan's received some good news on Tuesday concerning their healthcare system. Five senior executives of Alberta Health Services, including Chief Operating Officer Chris Mazurkewich, were fired. It's a good start.

On Sept. 28 the Okotoks Public Library will welcome Edmonton writer Caterina Edwards when she will lead a writing workshop entitled “Telling Family Stories.

Canada was a great adventure for young Bobby Brown. His dad and uncle were the drillers who brought in the famous discovery well along the banks of Sheep Creek west of Okotoks. A century ago Joe and Bob Brown were busy drilling for oil.

Well we are half way there. I have been living in the trailer down by the river for more than two weeks and much to my surprise I am still alive. Oh, do not get me wrong.

Black Diamond just can’t seem to get a break. They had a great day of events planned last Saturday for the world class bike tour in their town.
