If you are considering running in the Oct. 21 election you must file your papers on Monday, Sept. 23. Those elected this time will be in office for four years.
There will be elections for town councils, MD councils and school boards. Next week we will supply a run down of who is running in all the positions in our readership area.
In Okotoks and area the number one priority will once again be the water issue. We need to get this put to bed and move on to making sure we can plan for the controlled growth that is inevitable.
On Oct. 3, 2012 Okotoks council voted unanimously to hire a consultant who would be tasked with finding the water to supply future developments in Okotoks. That position was never filled. If that had been done we maybe could have put this debate behind us.
We still can with an approval to the motion to bring treated water from Calgary at the next meeting of council on Sept. 23.

Did you know from Sept. 25-29 the Canadian Hot Air Balloon Championships will be held in High River. A fun event to watch them take off on a daily basis. Let’s take it in and support our neighbours to the south.

One of our Sports reporters, Remy Greer, took a puck to the face at the Oilers game on Saturday night. He was just trying to get a good camera shot and of course it is hard to get a great shot through the glass. Broken nose and a possible concussion. Man, he will want danger pay in the future.
