Sharon has generously shared several of her low-growing perennials with us, so I have added them to the planters and here and there elsewhere. I so hope they winter over.

I’ve been a volunteer on the Okotoks Champions for Kids Committee supporting Okotoks and area Big Brothers Big Sisters since it started several years ago.

At the Alberta Progressive Conservative party convention held in Red Deer on May 7, with about 1,000 delegates attending, it was decided to continue as the original party had been organized, according to the PC constitution.

There have been some significant changes at the Western Wheel recently. You have probably noticed that the newspaper page is a bit shorter. Our press runs faster and more efficiently when printing at the new size. I really like the new look.

Summer vacation is going to be epic. We have a lot planned - racing down mountains, chowing down on burgers sitting in the sun with ice cream and going out on shopping excursions.

Just when we thought Alberta politics could not get any more interesting, enter Jason Kenney.

I guess that is why they play the games. The Okotoks Dawgs looked like a sure thing when the Western Wheel staff enjoyed a few hot dogs, some cold drinks and watched our local team beat the Fort McMurray Giants last week.

I had a visit with Donna last week. It was so nice to see her. There are some things she loves about her new digs and some not so much, but she’s adapting and things will become more familiar as time goes by.

Summer and byelection don’t always add up to a large turnout at the polls, but Black Diamond residents need to come out in big number for next month’s vote. Four candidates have thrown their hats in the ring for the Aug.

Things are heating up in Black Diamond with a summer byelection to elect a new mayor and one new councillor.
