I’ve been a volunteer on the Okotoks Champions for Kids Committee supporting Okotoks and area Big Brothers Big Sisters since it started several years ago. It’s been wonderful to have a part in the positive impacts in people’s lives from mentoring co-ordinated by Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Currently there is an All-Star Campaign in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters where Qualico and Gary Nissen will match all donations up to $100,000. Our local All-Star in this campaign is the rising country music star Maddison Krebs. Her new record titled Bulls-Eye climbed all the way to #6 on the iTunes Country albums chart. Maddison Krebs will be performing during the Big Brothers Big Sisters night at the George Traditional House on Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. There will be raffle ticket sales and you could win two tickets anywhere WestJet flies. The George Traditional House is donating 25 cents to Big Brothers Big Sisters for every pint sold in August. This is shaping up to be a fun evening in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Congratulations to the Okotoks Rotary Club on another successful Foothills Golf Classic last month. This year was the 25th Annual Foothills Golf Classic. The club raised $18,472 from the annual Golf Tournament and a portion of the proceeds will go towards new spectator seating at the Okotoks Foothills Crescent Point Regional Field House.
