I often feel like I won the lottery because I was born in Canada. I accept that I’m biased on this but Canada is the best country to live in for so many reasons. Freedom of the press, wide open spaces, friendly people, stable government.

Our annual bridge luncheon was a most enjoyable day. Our new convener did a superb job and she got the day going with her usual good humour. Duncan’s food was, as usual, delicious.

When I graduated from high school I didn’t know what I was going to do next. If you were to read my high school yearbook you would learn, not only that I once had long hair, but also that I wanted to be a zoologist.

If you ever find yourself asking, “Should I stay or should I go?” when it comes to a hike, do like the British people did with their Brexit vote.

The first annual Okotoks Outlaws Peewee Baseball Tournament sponsored by the Western Wheel runs Friday, July 1 to Sunday, July 3. We have teams traveling in from Saskatoon, Sherwood Park, Cranbrook, Strathmore and Calgary.

It was a sentimental journey when thousands of dads and their sons and daughters took in the ballgame at Seaman Stadium on Father’s Day. It was my dad who got me interested in baseball back in the Summer of Love.

I’m really looking forward to this Saturday. Parade day in Okotoks is always so much fun with everyone out enjoying their community. The festivities start bright and early with the Lions Club Pancake Breakfast at 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

As some of you know, I have been very passionate and, to some degree, involved in unification efforts of the two conservative parties here in Alberta.

On June 4 under sunny skies, the Sheep Creek Arts Council held its 11th annual rhubarb tea, quilt show and bake sale. These were successful events once again, largely due to the support of our members and community volunteers.

Our two little towns will be alive this weekend. It is Discovery Days in our valley. The parade starts in Black Diamond at 10 a.m. There will be a shuttle running between the two towns starting at 11 a.m.
