Fall is well underway in our household, as evidenced by the leaves being tracked into the porch after a busy day at school, darker early mornings and the shock of busy evenings.

The first meeting of the new season went well, there were a lot of issues dealt with. The meeting approved the motion to build a cabinet to showcase our beautiful silver tea service and fancy cups and saucers.

Be sure to mark Saturday, Sept. 26 on the calendar as a day to stop into the library to learn about and support some of the local writing talent living right here in our community. The Okotoks Public Library is hosting a local authors Expo from 11 a.

After electing the same political party into power for 44 years, Alberta voters have become wonderfully unpredictable. I have to admit that I was a little surprised by the Calgary-Foothills riding by-election result last Thursday.

I’ve never liked mice. When I was a little boy living in the country east of Claresholm my neighbour had a shed where they kept their dog food.

It’s now September. Didn’t I tell you fall was just around the corner? We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the Griffiths Centre on Thursday.

There are so many awesome events happening in Okotoks this weekend! The Foothills Highland Games are at the Foothills Composite High School this Saturday, Aug. 29.

Mark your calendar for Sept. 3 at 1 p.m. for the first general meeting of the fall season. I’m sure we will have lots of things to discuss as we haven’t had a meeting since June. Exercise classes begin Sept. 15.

It can be hard saying goodbye, but it can also put a smile on one’s face. Hundreds of people packed High River’s Highwood Memorial Centre to say farewell to Kathleen ‘Coddy’ Couey last week, who passed away at the age of 84.

What did you think of the federal political party leaders debate last Thursday? It was nice to have a debate so early into the election campaign.
