There are some epic sports rivalries be it Ohio State-Michigan, Bruins-Canadiens or Calgary Edmonton. We have a similar rivalry emerging in Okotoks between the Holy Trinity Academy Knights and Foothills Composite Falcons football teams.

It could have been compared to the awkward silence after a first date.

The Labour Day weekend was the 20th annual Okotoks Pro Rodeo. I remember well the first one. Verge Reidlinger and Jim Braun were co-chairmen and worked hard getting the event off to a great start.

I am a horrible golfer, so I don’t usually play too many rounds of golf over the summer. When I do, I’ll be happy if I can get by with a double bogey on most holes. I’m at my best on the 19th hole.

Last week I took a day off jumped in a plane with Jimmy “The Jet” Mackinnon and ventured north to Fort McMurray.

I think I am allergic to modern conveniences. Either that or many of these new gadgets simply do not like the looks of me and refuse to work when I walk into the room.

Initially, the idea of “celebrating” my 40th birthday seemed ridiculous, I am in no rush whatsoever to turn 40. In fact, I was more looking forward to eating a haggis burger at the Foothills Highland Games on Saturday than turn 40.

How far have you gone to get a good burger? I have jaywalked the Las Vegas Strip for a Fatburger, actually it was more of a full-speed sprint. It’s not like skipping across Elizabeth Street.

Two of my favourite foods are hamburgers and peanut butter and banana sandwiches. I would never have thought to put them both together, until now. The Elvis burger at Marv’s Classic Soda Shop in Black Diamond is one of a kind.

For the many reasons why people commit crime in Canada, society has but relatively few ways of punishing such wrong doings, and of reforming convicted felons/persons from committing wrongful acts again.
