Okotoks Legion holds reduced ceremony to mark Victory in Europe Day

Okotoks Legion members gathered at the Okotoks cenotaph to mark Victory in Europe Day on May 8. The day marks when the Allies of World War II formally accepted Germany's surrender on May 8, 1945, marking the end of the war in Europe. The ceremony was distanced and limited to five people to comply with Alberta's COVID-19 restrictions.

Okotoks firefighters climb for cancer charity

Held in Calgary's Bow building in past years, Okotoks firefighters took to the stairs behind Clark Avenue between May 2-15, ascending 15 times for the required 1,204 steps up. The event is organized by Wellspring Calgary, which supports firefighters and others dealing with cancer, as well as their families.
