Dale Harrison — Council Candidate
I recently retired as CAO of Longview, a position held for the past five years. I have had several positions in municipal government: Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), economic & community development officer, and treasurer.
I worked for the amalgamated City of Cold Lake. I’ve been responsible for budgets, development, infrastructure, maintenance, inter-governmental relations and have a very well-rounded understanding of municipal government.
I’m passionate about growing and strengthening the economy of the community without reducing the quality of life; creating opportunities for new businesses, local jobs, and a stronger tax base. I am also keen on efficient use of limited resources by reducing expenses and increasing revenue while minimizing taxes and utility fees, still understanding the need for cost recovery.
• Need a new Municipal Development Plan incorporating commercial and industrial land for future growth
• Look into rainwater capture or raw water line to reduce demand for treated water
• Turn assets into revenue generation, increase revenue from non-tax or utility sources
• Lobby provincial government for sustainable long-term transfer payments (grants)
