Election day today for Diamond Valley council

Polling stations for Diamond Valley's first election are open in Black Diamond and Turner Valley from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 28.

Today is election day for the Town of Diamond Valley.

Polling stations are open in Black Diamond and Turner Valley from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Nov. 28,  for the vote to decide who will form council and lead the amalgamated Town of Diamond Valley in the new year.

In Black Diamond, residents can vote at the Oilfields High School gym at 511 Third Street SW, while in Turner Valley, voting is at the Flare n’ Derrick at 129 Main Street NE.

Unofficial election results are expected a few hours after polls close.

Two people are running for mayor and 11 are running for council, and advance voting was held on Monday, Nov. 21.

Residents of Black Diamond or Turner Valley can vote at either location but can only vote once. Identification showing a Black Diamond or Turner Valley PO Box is acceptable, but a second piece of identification is needed if a mailing address outside of Turner Valley or Black Diamond is listed on a piece of identification.
