On July 15, 2022, we lost a Husband, Father,
Brother, and Friend. Tyson Jerrold Sorge
was born on February 14, 1969. He was
diagnosed with Leukemia in December of
2019 and because of the amazing doctors
and staff at the BMT Tom Baker Cancer Centre
he was able to extend his time with us.
Tyson was a doer from the start. Along with
the rest of his siblings he was pumping gas
before starting Kindergarten and was part of
the ‘shop’ throughout his life. He graduated
from Oilfields High School with a keen
interest in electronics and shortwave radio.
His teacher, Mr. Gardiner was a fellow ham
radio operator and mentor, and no doubt
was instrumental in Tyson’s career path in
communications. He graduated from SAIT
with a diploma in Electronics Technology.
Tyson spent most of his career with Mobiltex
in Calgary, a company that designed and
installed communications equipment.
Through his work, Tyson visited just about
every corner of the globe, which really
sharpened his appreciation for the beautiful
country in which we live. He had a talent for
analyzing and solving problems and could
build what he needed seemingly out of thin
air. He was our very own “MacGyver.”
In 2000 Tyson married his love Sue Webber
and had Orren, Lucie and Quinn. Tyson
loved being a father; his family was the most
important thing in his life. Whether it was a
canoe trip through his role as a leader with
the St Barnabas Scout Group or times spent
at Moyie lake, boating and sitting around
the campfire, adventures with his family
were Tyson’s favourite pastime. His biggest
sorrow was that he was not able to see all his
children grow into adults, grow old with Sue,
and retire to the lake.
A huge thank you to all our friends, his
Mobiltex coworkers and the 6th Calgary
Scout Group for all the support to Tyson
and our family throughout his struggle. His
passing leaves a huge hole in all our lives.
We would also like to extend our gratitude to
the staff of the Rosedale Hospice who took
such good care of Tyson and his family in his
last days.
Tyson was predeceased by his parents, Rudy
Sr and Mary Sorge, his youngest brother
Wilmar and sister Caroline, his parents-in-law
Bruce and Dorothy Webber. He survived
by his wife Sue, his children Orren, Lucie
and Quinn, his brothers Rudy and Hyalmar,
his sisters Gerarda (Dan Denning), Marina
(Andrew Moon) and Liska, his brother-in-law
Clint, his beloved aunts, cousins, nieces, and
nephews.
Tyson’s Celebration of Life will be held on
September 24 from 1:30-4:30 at the Renfrew
Community Association Hall, 811 Radford
Road NE, Calgary, AB
