Sept. 2, 1946 – Aug. 18, 2021
On August 18, 2021, Robert Gordon Nelson passed away after a short battle with cancer. Better known to most as Bob, his most cherished name was Papa.
Bob was born on September 2, 1946, in Calgary, Alberta, to Gordon and Gladys Nelson and grew up in Calgary. In 1969 he married the love of his life Linda. Together they raised two children, Tyler and Amber.
Bob spent all his working years with the Royal Bank which gave him and his family the opportunity to live in many places from the Crowsnest Pass, Alberta to Yellowknife, NWT. In addition to his work and family commitments, Bob was a member of the Lions Club for nearly 50 years.
Bob was a wonderful husband and a father, but his greatest promotion was to Papa. He adored his grandchildren and they cherished him. He made them laugh while they played on the floor together as babies, he built them toys and toy boxes to store them in, and he shared his wealth of experience and knowledge with them to help them grow.
Bob is survived by his wife Linda, his son Tyler and family Christine, Kate, Callum, Oliver, and his daughter Amber and family Emily, and Nathan.
As per Bob’s wishes there will be no service. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in his honour
