Marie Margaret Polding of Calgary, AB, passed
away on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at the age
of 88 years.
Marie was a dearly loved sister, auntie, great-aunt,
and great-great-aunt, as well as a friend
to many throughout her life. Marie was born in
Blackburn, England on June 4, 1934. She trained
as a nurse in Blackburn before training to be a
midwife. Prior to leaving England to start a new
life in Canada at the age of 23, she proudly
delivered her first niece.
Marie first started her nursing career in
Vulcan, AB, then went to pursue a degree in
Public Health Nursing in Edmonton, AB. After
graduating from college, she began her work
for the local government on several First Nation
reservations, including Morley, Saddle Lake,
Eden Valley, Pincher Creek, Port Simpson Buffalo
Narrows, and Calgary.
Marie was passionate about her job. She also
loved all animals: large, small, wild, or tame,
and would often be found rehabilitating found
creatures and giving them love and care until
the end of their lives. She will be missed
so very much.
