It is with much love and great respect that
we announce the peaceful passing of Linora
Frances (Randle) Jones on June 15, 2023,
at the High River Hospital after a brief illness
at the age of 99. She had been a resident of
Heartland and Seasons Retirement Homes since
her husband’s passing in 2013.

Linora is survived by her children George (Ellen),
Barbara Harty (Ted), David (Daphne), and Mary-
Ellen; nine grandchildren, and eighteen great-grand-children
and her brother Fred (Randle).

She was predeceased by her parents Nira and
George Randle, her husband Gordon, her son
Darcy, her sisters Ellen and Amelia, her brother
Reuben, her brothers-in-law Gene Johnson and
Art Pal and her sister-in-law Pat Randle.

Linora was born on the family farm four miles
East of High River on the Sunshine Trail. She
started playing piano at the age of five. She rode
horseback to Little Bow School in the spring and
fall, then attended Earl Grey School in Calgary
for the winter months. When the bus began
to run, she attended High River High School,
grades 9-12. She graduated from Garbutt’s
Secretarial School and her first job was with
Millican & Millican law office in Calgary. Linora
met Gordon Jones (RCAF) and soon married on
Oct. 26, 1944. They purchased the farm from
Kendall Bower, Linora’s uncle, in 1945 and they
started farming one mile from where Linora
was born and grew up.

Linora had a life well lived. She raised five
children, worked and helped in many ways on
the farm, and being very community minded,
was involved with Unifarm Women of Alberta,
United Church Women, CGIT leader, High River
United Church board, High River Curling Club
and Alberta Flying Farmers. Linora flew to many
destinations with Gordon in their own plane,
went on several cruises and travelled the world.
We will always remember her for her deep
Christian faith and the unconditional love she
had for family, friends, neighbors and all who
knew her.

The family would like to thank all the staff at both
Heartland and Seasons for your compassion
and care these last ten years.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the
High River Hospital Foundation.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday,
June 24 at 1:00 p.m. at the High River United
Church.
