Linda McGowan, beloved wife of Art Gieck, of Okotoks, AB passed away at home on Friday, August 28, 2020 at the age of 69 years.
Linda was born in Calgary, AB and lived in Vauxhall, Medicine Hat, and Lethbridge with her young family before returning to Calgary in the late 80’s. She and Art moved to Okotoks, AB in 1994 and quickly became part of the community. For most of her career until her retirement, Linda worked in a series of leadership positions at the Royal Bank of Canada, including her many years as Manager of the Okotoks branch. Linda married Art in the year 2000, and they enjoyed their life together in so many ways - learning ballroom dancing, spending time with their large blended family, travelling throughout Canada, the US, Mexico, and Asia. It was a rare day when Linda and Art could not find a reason to laugh – at each other, at themselves, and to just see the joy of life together. While Linda had many accomplishments, she was particularly proud of her children as they grew, discovered their career paths, and started families of their own.
Besides her loving husband, Linda is survived by her children and their spouses, Lorie and Kevin, Jason and Erin, Chris and Barbara, Chris and Roxanne, Marcie and Cory, and David; grandchildren, Aidan, Brandon, Sierra, Brooke, Brynne, Camryn, Jade, Thomas and Troy. Linda is also survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Leslie and Garry and Peggy and Wayne; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Margaret and Donald Bevan.
