With great sadness we say goodbye to Leonard Wayne Farries, who passed away Monday, August 31 at the age
of 81. Although his life was not without its challenges,
he overcame them to become a man who will be remembered and loved for his kindness, warmth and
good natured smile.

Len was born in Delburne, Alberta to Roy and Margarite Farries on January 31, 1939. He was an accomplished hockey player and an exceptional student, eventually graduating from the University of Alberta with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He has had many occupations over the years, most recently as an Equipment Operator with Foothills County. Len loved to keep busy and could often be found puttering in his yard or basement, on his daily walks around Black Diamond, or spending time with family and friends.

Len is survived by his beloved wife Geraldine, two children, Christine and Neil, brothers Mel and Jim, and grandchildren Kelvin, Connor, Griffin, and Rowan. Len will also be missed by numerous other relatives, friends, and his second family at “the office”, the Black Diamond Hotel.

The family wishes to express our most sincere gratitude to the incredible staff of Oilfields General Hospital in
Black Diamond for helping him live his final days in
comfort and peace.

There will be a small memorial for Len at the Black Diamond Hotel on October 3rd between 2:00-4:00. Capacity is limited, so please feel free to come and go during that time to share some memories and raise a glass.
