November 13, 1985 - July 1, 2021

On Thursday July 1, Ian David MacIvor, loving Son, Brother, Uncle, Friend, Cousin and Nephew passed away at age 35 in Burnaby, British Colombia, where he went to pursue his dreams.

Ian was born on November 13th, 1985 in Singapore to his loving parents, Allan and Anita MacIvor. Ian, or as his family and friends knew him, Kinder, has touched countless lives during his short 35 years of life. Every person that has encountered Ian, loved his contagious laugh, bigger than life smile, and great attitude. Ian always had the biggest heartfelt hugs, those giant larger-than-life hugs that you would never forget. Ian was such a caring, loving, sensitive soul, who loved his family and friends so deeply. He was a gentlemen, always looking out for others, ensuring that they grab that extra coat before going out, their seatbelts were always fastened, and making sure that everyone had what they needed. Ian was a great family member, and friend to those that knew him. Ian made so many good friends throughout the years and genuinely cared for each and every one of them.

Ian had a passion for the outdoors and he was always up for adventure and you could always find him outside, whether it was in the summer or winter. Ian loved fishing, boats, dirt biking, snowboarding, snowmobiling, and drifting on the snowy Alberta roads. Ian was able to combine his love for the water and outdoors into his work. Ian loved boats and his passion was working on them as a Marine Mechanic. One of his happy places was being out on the water at lake Koocanusa, surfing it up with his family, especially his nieces Jade, and Kiera, and his nephews Mason, and Owen, but especially his Big Brother George. Ian took so much pride in being the very best Son, Brother, Uncle, Friend, Cousin, and Nephew he could be. Kinder was taken from us too early but we know his love and light will continue on in each of our hearts.

Ian is survived by his parents, Allan and Anita, his brother George and his wife (Samantha Gosselin), and their kids Jade, Mason, Kiera, and Owen, as well as countless Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Friends across Canada, United States, Colombia, and around the Globe.

A Celebration of Life for Ian, for all who knew him and are able to attend was held on Friday, July 16th at 11:30am at Snodgrass Funeral Homes in Okotoks, Alberta.
