It is with great sadness we announce the passing
of Greta Inez McKie (nee) Huckabay on July
20th 2022 at Black Diamond Alberta. Greta was
predeceased by both her parents and her husband
(John) Jake McKie Her sister Dorothy Bernard and
her Brothers (Gerald) Allan, Huckabay William
(Lloyd) Huckabay, her Grandsons Troy Rarick
and Gerald Wayne McKie. She is survived by her
8 siblings and her five children: Kenneth Wayne
(Phyllis) McKie, Lois Jean Colter, Patricia Joyce
Willard, Ramona Jane (Don) Moore, Leo Jay
(Liana) McKie Her 9-Grandkids, 15-Great-Great-
Grand kids 9-Great-Great-Great-Grandkids.
Mom was born December 29, 1926 in Kerrobert
Saskatchewan. She met and married Dad
September 28, 1946, they then moved to
Mercury for a short time and then they moved
to Edmonton. Later returning to Turner Valley
where in May of 1961, they purchased their
first Home which just happened to be the first
Turner Valley Hospital. Mom and Dad both
worked at the Turner Valley School up and until
Dad’s passing. Mom lived in her house on her
own to the age of 95. Her mind was sharp as
a tack right until the end. Mom enjoyed Bingo
sewing/knitting, cooking, her garden and
flowerbeds. Mom completed many puzzles
which she displayed on the walls of her home.
Mom enjoyed watching her hockey games
football games and of course her curling. She
like to bowl with her friends and somebody
probably owes somebody $.10 cents. Mom
was a strong willed feisty little woman who
spoke her mind with no filter which may or may
not have been a good thing to some people.
