1929 – 2023
Passed away in Black Diamond, Alberta, on October 12, 2023. She will be sadly missed by her loving children; Blanca, Ana (Tom), Fermin, and Karina (Mark); her grandchildren Elise (Jeff) and Daniel (Kay); and her great-grandchildren Tristan, Kamora, and Charli. She also leaves behind her sister Mercedes, sisters-in-law Diana and Esperanza, as well as nieces and nephews.
Teresa was predeceased by her husband Leon in 1976, her parents, and her brothers Juan, Alejandro, Salvador, Jose, Lorenzo, and Carlos as well as sisters-in-law Ines and Regina, and brother-in-law Francisco. She was also predeceased by son-in-law Arturo Botero.
Teresa and her family came to Lethbridge, Alberta from Spain in 1962. She worked at the Municipal and St. Michael’s Hospitals in that city for many years, and after she retired, came to Black Diamond to be near her children and grandchildren. Teresa was a hard worker, made friends wherever she lived, and was a fiercely independent woman. In her retirement, she knit dozens of glorious socks to keep her family and friends safe and warm on their travels through the world. She loved red geraniums on her balcony and the memory of rain drops on her umbrella as she walked the cobbled streets of her childhood.
Forever loved and missed.
The family would like to thank the Acute Care doctors and nursing staff at the Black Diamond Hospital for their care and kindness during mom’s stay there.
