The Rotary Performing Arts Centre in Okotoks has a full season on the docket for the first time in over two years.

Live entertainment is returning to Okotoks’ central venue.

The Rotary Performing Arts Centre (RPAC) is kicking off its first full season in over two years.

Andrea Spiers, the RPAC and Events assistant for Okotoks Culture and Heritage, is pleased with the coming lineup.

“It’s wonderful. We haven’t been able to do it, and now we’re good to go,” said Spiers. "We’ve got a little bit of everything in the genres. We have got everything; East Coast music, we’ve got Rocky Horror (Picture Show) back, Elton John (Tribute) and all the way to blues and roots and folk music.

“And our Yuk Yuks that are always popular every year too.”

As restrictions eased in the new year, the RPAC had a smaller season to soft start the return of live entertainment.

“At the beginning of this year we had a mini season just a few months long,” Spiers said. “So now this is our first full season all back in the game.”

Opening the season on Sept. 23 is East Coast musician Lennie Gallant, a personal favourite of Spiers.

“He played here more than 20 years ago at the Station, before we had the RPAC,” she said. “He does French and English songs, and I’ve been a huge fan of his ever since I saw him here, he’s fabulous.”

The new season comes with a new perk for those who frequent the venue.

“Instead of a season ticket, you can pick shows and get a discount,” Spiers said.

Purchasing three to four shows will qualify for 10 per cent off, five to six shows will get 15 per cent off, and seven or more shows will get 20 per cent off.

Not eligible for the discounts are Dewdney Players or Goodger Pink performances, or Roots & Blues weekend, with the latter having its own special $50 rate for both shows.

Shows must be purchased in one transaction and must be purchased in person at the Okotoks Art Gallery and the discount will be applied only when an equal number of tickets are purchased for each show.

“We hope everybody comes out to enjoy these shows, because we’ve all been sitting at home for too long,” Spiers said.
