Longview 4H Beef Club receives national philanthropy award

The youth group was recognized with Generosity of Spirit Award for its Charity Steer program and raising almost $500,000 for charities in the past 15 years.

The Longview 4H Beef Club was awarded with the Generosity of Spirit Award - Youth Category by the Association of Fundraising Professionals on Nov. 22.

The club was nominated by the team at the High River District Hospital Foundation which was thrilled to hear this amazing youth group was recognized with a national philanthropy award for its Charity Steer program and raising almost $500,000 for charities in the past 15 years.

The award process included a professionally-produced video about the club and the project, an awards luncheon and a handblown glass award created by Julia Reimer of Firebrand Glass Studio in Black Diamond. Representatives from the club included Kate Wedderburn, Blake Kilpatrick, Kayden Lewis, Ross Lewis and Stephen Hughes.

“Recognizing this youth group is important to our foundation,” said Wendy Kennelly, executive director of the High River District Hospital Foundation.

“They work so hard to help the larger community through their charity steer sale. So many club members, over the years, have made a positive impact on healthcare in the area. We are so grateful,” Kennelly added.
