Foothills County ranch with Hollywood history is on the market

The Ranch at Fisher Creek, where Clint Eastwood stayed while filming Unforgiven, is on the market for $25.5 million. It comes with the original film set of the town of Big Whiskey from the movie.

A luxury ranch where Clint Eastwood stayed while filming the western Unforgiven is on the market.

The 480-acre Ranch at Fisher Creek is listed at $25.5 million. It features a main lodge, guest cabins, an indoor riding arena as well as an 11-acre lake with a boathouse and waterfall.

The ranch is listed with international property brokerage firm Engel & Völkers.

“The property is sensational and a real slice of the Wild West right in the heart of Canada,” Chris Burns, a real estate agent at Engel & Völkers Vancouver, said in a press release.

“The movie was filmed in the region directly next to the ranch. Clint Eastwood stayed on the ranch during filming, and his co-stars Morgan Freeman, Gene Hackman and Richard Harris also spent a lot of time here,” Burns said.

Another feature of the property is that the original film set of Big Whiskey, the fictional town featured in the movie, is on the site. It was purchased by the property owners and moved to the ranch, where it was rebuilt according to original film set plans.

“The unusual thing is that each of the buildings are fully functional and habitable, rather than being just a movie set facade," Burns said.

"There is nothing quite like it on a private ranch.”

The movie set town features a saloon with a full-service bar and a fully stocked mercantile to go with the sheriff's office, blacksmith shop, livery, bank and carpentry shop.

Located in the foothills an hour's drive west of Calgary, the property is equipped with a heli-pad for those who prefer to travel by air.

The main lodge, at over 12,000 square feet, is equipped with 11 bathrooms, five bedrooms and seven fireplaces. Elevated walkways connect the lodge to six guest cabins.

“It is the ultimate retreat and adventure resort for hosting family and friends, and for those seeking a life at one with beautiful nature and imbued with sophistication and the rugged soul of the Old West,” Burns said.

Eastwood starred in, produced and directed the Oscar-winning western. The film won four Oscars in 1993, including Best Picture and Best Director (Eastwood).
