Snow Angels can help shovel sidewalks and driveways for people who are unable to in Diamond Valley.

A community-based snow shovelling program has launched in Diamond Valley that invites residents to help neighbours who need a hand this winter.

Anyone in Diamond Valley who has difficulty shovelling their walkways can apply for assistance through the Snow Angels Lawn Sign Program.

Many hands make short work, and the goal is to share the workload and encourage anyone who can to help clear snow, the Town said.

Residents who register for assistance will display a sign in their yard or window to show they have been approved for the program and are requesting shovelling help from the community.

Community members can look for the signs and shovel for those who need support.

Clearing snow can be unsafe for some people and the program will help ensure people who can't shovel don’t become housebound, the Town said.

Being a Snow Angel is a great way to get to know the neighbours, get some fresh air and exercise, and feel good about helping someone, the Town said.

The program is for those who have no one in the home that can shovel, and it is not applicable to those seeking assistance while on vacation.

Applications are available at the Centre Avenue town office or online. For more information, visit www.diamondvalley.town
