Diamond Valley council is on the cusp of approving its annual budget that comes with no property tax increase.

“Council was very impressed with the second draft budget that was proposed,” Mayor Barry Crane said.

“The zero per cent increase is a great win for our community in context of amalgamation, finding efficiencies and absorbing the inflation that has been record high in the last 30 years.”

The budget will see a few other changes as a motion was also made to refocus municipal enforcement resources.

“We are looking to cancel the contract we have with Longview for our CPO coverage to increase our own local enforcement,” Crane said.

The budget is expected to go to a vote at the Dec. 6 regular council meeting.

“I would say we're extremely comfortable going into Wednesday to approve this budget as it was presented, with minimal change,” the mayor said.
