The Diamond Valley Parade and Diamond Valley Day is being held this year on June 4 in Black Diamond and Turner Valley.

Celebration is the name of the game at the upcoming Diamond Valley Parade and Diamond Valley Day being held on June 4 in Turner Valley and Black Diamond.

Both communities are planning a full day of family fun, featuring a parade and a host of other activities throughout the day.

The celebration starts in Black Diamond at 8 a.m. with a pancake breakfast hosted by Oilfields High School, followed by the Diamond Valley Parade from 10 to 11 a.m. Celebrating its 54th year, the parade will travel along 1 Street SW, Government Road and Centre Avenue to entertain locals and visitors of all ages.

Following the parade, festivities will move to Turner Valley's Millennium Park, where familiar festival favourites, and a few new additions, will provide an afternoon of fun and excitement for all ages.

Between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., do not miss the bounce house, petting zoo or face painting. Check out the market and see what goes on at a Junior Firefighter Challenge. Burgers and hotdogs will be served up by the Foothills Lions Club and Lil’ Legendary Leos.

New this year, a talent show and dance party is sure to be a hit. Carnival games and carnival treats will round out the festivities, presented by Oilfields High School Leadership Program students. Highlights are sure to be the dunk tank, cotton candy and snow cones.

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Sheep River Library will be holding a book sale, and around the corner at the Sheep Creek Arts Council on Sunset Boulevard, a quilt show and bake sale will tantalize taste-buds. Also on Sunset Boulevard, the Valley Neighbours Garden Club plant sale will be a great opportunity to browse for an addition to the garden. The plant sale goes from noon to 3 p.m.

Between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., the Foothills Boys and Girls Club will operate a free shuttle bus between both towns, making stops at the swimming pool in Turner Valley and the parking lot east of the bridge in Black Diamond. The day will be a great opportunity to visit the many great stores and restaurants in the cool little towns.

Also returning this year, the Turner Valley Gas Plant will be open for tours on weekends between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
