Check out these gorgeous waterfront campgrounds that are perfect for your next RV adventure.

Head Northeast to Cold Lake Provincial Park

Cold Lake Campground at Cold Lake Provincial Park is located about three and a half hours northeast of Edmonton. While the campground is in Alberta, Cold Lake actually straddles the border with Saskatchewan.

Cold Lake is one of the largest lakes in Northern Alberta and is very popular for boating, fishing, and bird watching. The lake, which is actually warmer than expected due to its depth, is a perfect place to enjoy sandy beaches, canoeing, sailing, and spotting diverse wildlife.

The campground is open between May 19 and October 11. There are 117 sites, all of which are reservable. Powered sites cost $40 per night and sites with power and water cost $48. There are quite a few amenities at Cold Lake Campground, including an amphitheatre, pier, boat launch, fish cleaning station, sewage disposal, a camp store, a playground, and washrooms. There are also 9 kilometers of trails that are great for hiking and mountain biking.

Two Jack Lakeside Campground in the Rockies

Two Jack Lakeside Campground is one of the most popular waterfront camping destinations in the province. It is located in Banff National Park near Lake Minnewanka, which is about 15 minutes from the Banff townsite. The lake is serene and perfect for kayaking or canoeing.

This campground is rustic and none of the sites are serviced, but there is a washroom building with running water onsite. The views make it well worth roughing it for a few days, though. Two Jack Lake is nestled in the Rocky Mountains and the campground is located right beside crystal clear waters that perfectly reflect the majesty of the scenery. Most of the sites are well-treed and each has its own fire pit.

Sites cost $29.25 per night and a National Park pass is required. Bookings can be difficult to secure at this campground but if you keep checking their website, you might be able to find a cancellation.

Visit Southern Alberta’s 8 Flags Campground at Milk River

Travel to the southern edge of Alberta and visit 8 Flags Campground in the town of Milk River, which is just north of the Coutts border crossing into Montana. Milk River is named for the creamy hue that comes from the white silt that washes into it as it flows through the Badlands.

The campground offers 34 RV sites with daily, weekly, or monthly options. Prices for the peak season between May 1 and September 30 range from $20 per night to $600 per month. They offer full-service sites, water/power sites, and unserviced sites. Golf and cable TV packages are available and WiFi is included.

8 Flags Campground is located adjacent to Riverside Golf Course and very close to the rest of the town of Milk River. Guests at the campground pay only $1 per hole at the golf course.

The next time you are planning an RV trip, visit one of these beautiful lakefront or riverside campgrounds. Enjoy the water and have fun!
