Have you Checked out These Three RV Campsites in Alberta?

Why do people think “staycation” is any different from “vacation?” They are the same thing! It’s a break from the everyday, a chance to reconnect with friends and family, and time to just get away and do something fun.

Whether you are jetting off overseas or checking out the goodies other tourists come to your town for, any type of “cation” is special. Now that we are living through a global pandemic, staycations are more poplar than ever – and having one from the safety of your own RV, where you are assured of the sanitation and distancing – is the way to go this summer.

For these reasons, it’s anticipated that RV vacations will be the hottest trend this year, so be sure to book these campsites early.

Waterton Townsite Campground at Waterton National Park

Known as one of the most beautiful sites in the Rocky Mountains, the campground at Waterton National Park is highly sought after by anyone looking to relax in pristine nature. Reservations are highly recommended. There is a choice of full service power, or electrical only. Washrooms with flush toilets and showers are available, as are communal taps and dump stations. Enjoy the free WiFi or pay a small fee for enhanced WiFi. This campground, unlike more remote ones, has few trees as it is located at the end of the townsite. However, this also means more access to urban conveniences, which is perfect for the campers that also like to be close to dining, shopping, and grocery retail.

Pine Lake Campground at Wood Buffalo National Park

Established in 1922 as a place to protect northern Canada’s last bison herd, Wood Buffalo National Park is one of the largest animal sanctuaries in the world. The Pine Lake Campground is on the remote side; a 60 km drive from the town of Fort Smith. The site features flush toilets, day use areas, a natural swimming hole, and playgrounds. Bring a camera because nature abounds in the area. It’s a great time to get in a few snaps of wildlife in its natural habitat.

Mukwah Campground near Sundre

Adventure seekers head to Mukwah Campground because in addition to treed sites within walking distance to the river, you can go on an exciting white water rafting tour! But don’t worry, if rafting isn’t your thing you still have plenty of natural wilderness to explore, as well as access to hiking/biking trails, horseback riding, and fishing. However, with the hot showers, outdoor gaming (horseshoes, volleyball, etc.), sauna and all the other amenities at this campground, you may be happy to just relax on site.

These are Just Three Options

Thanks to Alberta’s natural beauty, there are plenty of RV campgrounds for every type of camper. You can be in town, in the wilderness, on a nature reserve, near a lake, at a trailhead, and have every type of camping adventure at your disposal – from rafting to simply walking a sunny trail with your camera in hand. Wherever the trails take you in your RV, you’re sure to have a wonderful staycation.
