Police are advising motorists to avoid driving this evening due to slippery/icy conditions.

In a Monday evening press release, Okotoks RCMP explained with the freezing rain earlier in the day and now the snow on top of the roadways, it is making for very slick and dangerous conditions.

Anyone who does not need to drive this evening has been asked by police not to. Anyone who does have to drive is advised to make sure they have headlights on, dress appropriately for the weather, have proper tires equipped, and have an emergency kit with blankets, lights, extra clothes.  Make sure you watch speed and pay attention to road conditions as they are at varying stages of grip.
