UPDATE: High River duo charged in connection to Rock-a-Doodles robbery

UPDATE:

High River RCMP have laid charges against two men in connection with the Dec. 1 armed robbery of Rock-a-Doodles Restaurant.

As reported on Dec. 1, two men allegedly brandishing machetes entered the Rock-a-Doodles Chicken around 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 1, with one holding an employee and customer at knifepoint while the other took money from VLTs.

The suspects then forced the employee to show them the safe, removing it from the building.

After leaving the restaurant, the suspects fled in a newer model silver Chevrolet or GM truck, possibly with a crew or extended cab. There was a white decal in the top centre of the back window that may have been from Okotoks Chev/GM.

The entire incident occured over approximately 30 minutes.

The employee and customer were not injured during the incident.

Robert Vincent, 38, of High River is charged with:

  • Armed Robbery
  • Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Disguise with intent to commit offense
  • Uttering Threats (2 counts)
  • Possess weapon contrary to prohibition
  • Fail to comply with probation order (2 counts)

Vincent has been remanded for a court appearance on December 23, 2019 at Okotoks Provincial Court.

Isaac Whittacase-Bird, 25, of High River is charged with:

  • Armed Robbery
  • Forcible Confinement (2 counts)
  • Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Disguise with intent to commit offense
  • Uttering Threats (2 counts)

Whittacase-Bird was released from custody by a Justice of the Peace to appear in Okotoks Provincial Court on January 17, 2020.
