High River community pitches in to aid police investigation

The RCMP has cited surveillance video provided by High River businesses and residents as helping to identify two suspects related to multiple thefts and break-ins last month.

A High River RCMP press release stated two men have been arrested and charged in relation to multiple thefts from vehicles on Nov. 2-3 and a theft at High River Shoppers Drug Mart on Nov. 2. A stolen vehicle was also recovered on Nov. 4.

During the investigation, Mounties used surveillance footage provided by the community, and with the help of the Calgary Police Service, were able to identify, arrest, and charge two suspects.

Leonard Kerr, 31, of no fixed address has been charged with:

  • nine counts of theft under $5,000
  • five counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000
  • three counts of break and enter
  • one count of fraud
  • two counts of failing to comply with probation order

Anthony Favel, 21, of Calgary, has been charged with:

  • eight counts of theft under $5,000
  • five counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000
  • three counts of break and enter
  • one count of fraud
  • three counts of failing to comply with a release order.

Both men have been remanded into custody pending court appearances.
