Residents in Okotoks were voicing concern on social media as they noticed the Calgary Police Service (CPS) HAWCS helicopter circling town Saturday night.

Okotoks RCMP Corporal Korey Crerar said in a phone interview on Wednesday that it was a simple case of Calgary Police surveilling a stolen car the night of Oct. 31.

"It's actually very simple," said Crerar.

"Calgary Police Service chose to basically track and watch a stolen vehicle that had parked on a street."

"I understand people were a little upset that they were out— [CPS] are completely entitled with air clearance to fly wherever they like,

"Nothing else came of it—there was no arrest, no pursuit, and they eventually left when they got low on fuel," said Crerar.
