Our 36th annual Over 80’s birthday party was a wonderful day. Thanks to Al Ziebart for being our MC in the absence of the president – good job Al. There were 15 honoured guests on the roster this year and 12 were present to accept their certificates, pins and roses. Winston Parker did us the honour of cutting the cake, our committee served a delicious lunch and the table decorations were awesome. All in all, a very successful day.

Our last general meeting until the fall will be on June 6 at 1 p.m. and the executive meeting will be on May 30 at 10 a.m.

Unless we have 20 people signed up for the exercise class for June, we will have our last class on May 28. I hope it has helped some of the participants and, hopefully, we can offer classes again in the fall

I hope you are gearing up for Discovery Days. The parade starts in Black Diamond at 10 a.m. on June 1. The theme is Spirit of the Century; Celebrating Youth, honouring the 100th anniversary of 4-H across Canada – then the activities move to Turner Valley for a country market at Millennium Park, VNC’s plant sale and Sheep Creek Arts Council’s rhubarb festival and quilt show. Go to www.turnervalley.ca or www.town.blackdiamond.ab.ca for times and further information.

The saskatoons are in bloom, what great timing. We should have a bumper crop this year.
