Things are changing at the Western Wheel

This week we say good bye to John on our Editorial page and wish him well as he jumps from reporting on our politicians to trying to become one. We will miss his humour and life stories we have all gotten so used to reading.

This week we say good bye to John on our Editorial page and wish him well as he jumps from reporting on our politicians to trying to become one. We will miss his humour and life stories we have all gotten so used to reading. I will miss his friendship far beyond the boss/employee status. Wait there is a difference between politics and death, we can still be friends, but I will forever miss having one of Alberta’s best young editors right here in downtown Okotoks.

While he will be missed, we have an excellent staff in the newsroom who will continue to bring you the best possible product in print and on-line. Call Darlene Casten or Don Patterson with your story ideas!

There are some amazing restaurants in the Foothills area and I often have people asking me about where to and eat. Here is the solution. This week the second Western Wheel Dining Guide is out and it lists many of the phenomenal places to eat in our area. Make sure you grab one and try some of the places you have not gone to before.

Hopefully Team Canada came up with a big win on Tuesday against Russia as I am looking forward to watching Canada in the World junior final on Thursday.

The Oilers are hoping to pack the rink on Friday when they host the Camrose Kodiaks at 7 p.m. at Centennial Arena. We have some great Junior hockey in our community with the Oilers and the Junior B Bisons who once again look poised to win a league title.

Get out and cheer on the boys!
