All indications are that we will be heading to a spring provincial election. I assume all parties are gearing up for it!
Space has been rented, printing booked and election advertising underway. So far, no word from the province on when a nomination meeting will be held in the Highwood riding for the PC candidate. As you know at this point our MLA is Danielle Smith and if uncontested she will run in the spring election for the PC party.
My gut says the election will be held on April 27. Just for the record I’m wrong more than I am right. If this best guess is correct then a nomination meeting will need to be held March 21 or 28. So, it will be announced within the next 10 days. It will be fun to see if my crystal ball works.
I can tell you at the PC nomination vote and the provincial vote I will be voting for the candidate most likely to get us some financial help to fix our water situation!

There are two great opportunities available to nominate people of our area for special recognition. Firstly, Okotoks Rotary along with The Wheel and the Town are looking for students at all levels who demonstrate leadership through volunteering. The students will be recognized at the 20th Annual Leadership awards.
If you know of a young person who is an active volunteer please nominate them. Forms may be picked up at the Wheel or go to www.okotoks.ca. The same group above will also be sponsoring a ‘Heart of Okotoks’ award. This can be an individual or group.
