Stampeders win Grey Cup

Nice to see the Calgary Stampeders came through and won the 102nd Grey Cup held in Vancouver. They maybe didn’t play as well as some of us expected but it was good enough to walk away with a 20-14 triumph.

When you think of the cold snowy weather we had in Calgary during the Grey Cup weekend it was sure nice that it was Vancouver’s turn to host the party. It looked lovely in their indoor arena. Several people who took in the party said that Vancouver did a great job and it was maybe the best Grey Cup ever!

The Salvation Army Toy Drive ends on Dec. 8. If you are interested in helping out new unwrapped toys can be dropped off at our office at 9 McRae Street. On that note I spent some time on the weekend collecting funds for the Salvation Army at Walmart. It is always a fantastic experience to see the people come up to the kettle and drop some cash in. I love it when the children come up with a handful of coins.

The Western Wheel Cares Charity is almost up to $10,000. We have a long way to go to match last years donation so if you can please consider our Charity in your end of the year giving. You can just call in and put it on plastic for now and collect air-miles etc. at the same time!

If you have not been to the Rec Centre yet you just have to go and check out the trees decorated for the Sheep River Health Trust. They are amazing and will be auctioned off on Saturday, Dec. 6 starting at 1 p.m. What a great event this has become.

The Wheel held a 50/50 draw during ‘Light Up’ on Friday, November 21st. The winner has come forward and claimed the cash. Charlotte Bath of Okotoks attended her first ‘Light Up’ and walked away with the $801.00 prize. She just had a tire blow so is using her prize for new tires on her car. Congratulations!

The weather is improving but please be careful out there as the roads are still icy in spots and we really want you to enjoy this time of the year with as little stress as possible.
