It’s hard to believe, but the Calgary Stampede is well past the halfway mark. So far it has run like a clock. Many of our local cowboys are doing well and Jason Glass is right up there in the Rangeland Derby.
I’m Looking forward to watching the finals over the weekend.
The weather has pretty much cooperated from parade day until now. Like they say our summer usually happens during the Stampede. When the mercury hits plus 30 it is extremely hot down at the grounds with all the people and the concrete.
I’m hoping the smokin’ hot weather will kill off a few thousand mosquitoes hiding in the trees around my place.

Where are the abducted grandparents and their five year old grandson? This is just a terrible story unfolding in the Calgary area.
I cannot imagine how difficult this must be for the family involved. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and we pray for a happy ending to this awful story.

Congrats to the Okotoks Rotary Club for a most successful 23rd Annual Golf Classic. It was held on Monday in the bright sunshine with very close to a sold out crowd. The proceeds will be donated toward the Okotoks Food Bank new location. The final number is not available at press time but we know it will be at least $25,000. Great job Rotarians.

Don’t forget the Farmers Market is now open every Friday at the north end of Okotoks on Highway 2A. I believe the hours are 3-6 p.m. Also of course the Millarville Farmers Market is in full swing every Saturday. This weekend there will be horse jumping events out at Spruce Meadows. Well worth a visit for some family fun and a great place to take out of town guests. After all it is the finest show jumping facility in Canada and possibly North America.

You know it seems like a ton of work to make our yards and towns look beautiful after a long hard winter but I must say it is worth it in my opinion because as I drive around I am proud to be a part of this area with everything looking so clean and manicured.

With resurfacing work happening on Southridge drive right now it may be faster to take the east end bridge across the Sheep at some times of the day.
