Remembrance ceremonies should remain

Dear Editor, Thank you to the Kientz Family for your efforts to maintain the Remembrance Day Service at the Okotoks Cenotaph for those of us who choose to remember the fallen and the elements in which they fought.

Dear Editor,

Thank you to the Kientz Family for your efforts to maintain the Remembrance Day Service at the Okotoks Cenotaph for those of us who choose to remember the fallen and the elements in which they fought. A quick count indicated between 350 and 400 hundred people braved those elements, a far greater number than any of the past 14 years that we have attended with you. Thank you again.

While I’m at it and still with Remembrance Day, there are some who think it should be declared a stat holiday, some even want to skid it to make a long weekend. Others already have scheduled “professional days” around it to make a four day weekend. Remembering “what”? Talk about selfish!! Everybody should take from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to attend a service to remember. Remembrance and the reason for it must be taught and observed in the schools or it’s significance will be lost to our society. Lest we forget!!!
