Proud to wear poppy

Usually, I’m frustrated when I lose something just a few hours after I bought it. However, every time I have to replace my poppy for Remembrance Day, I’m more than happy to give another loonie or two for such a worthwhile cause.

However, every time I have to replace my poppy for Remembrance Day, I’m more than happy to give another loonie or two for such a worthwhile cause.

Hundreds of Foothills residents are proudly wearing their poppies to show their support of our troops and for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

I’m sure the numerous Remembrance Day ceremonies will once again be well attended — especially with Canada now flying missions in Iraq.

Not to mention the tragic death of soldiers Patrice Vincent and Nathan Cirillo in the past month.

I will be delighted to buy a few more poppies until Nov. 11.

The Foothills Falcons sure seem to be hitting their stride during the high school football season.

Okotoks gridirons fans will have their last chance to cheer the boys on this Saturday when they take on the Hunting Hills Lightning at 1 p.m. at the Comp.

Hopefully, the boys will be playing for a few more weeks — all the way to the provincial final at the end of the month.

It sure looks like a bright future for both high school football teams. Wow. The Foothills Eagles won their first Tier I Calgary Bantam championship Saturday and are now going for a provincial title of their own.

Earlier in the day, the Foothills Peewee Eagles won a Tier II Calgary title with a heart-stopping comeback against the Cochrane Lions.

The Eagles program just seems to get better and better. With the players eventually going to Holy Trinity Academy or Foothills, things are looking bright for the future!
