Your vote is more important than ever as this time the council is being elected for a four year term. Can you imagine the changes we will see over the next four years?

Seems to me the time is now for a council who can work together and make decisions on the future with controlled growth of our community.

There will be time after the event to ask questions of individual candidates. The election will take place on Monday, Oct. 21.

The southeast portion of the Stoney Trail was supposed to open on Oct. 1. Once complete, it will skirt the east side of Calgary and take you all the way to the north side. I was so excited as I often have meetings at our head office in St. Albert. Just think no Deerfoot congestion!

The Okotoks Wishmaker Walk for Wishes is coming up on Oct. 19. You can register now online to walk with your family or friends that day. Lots of activities at Ethel Tucker Park including a free barbecue after the event. At the inaugural event last year approximately $70,000 was raised to provide wishes for children in our area living with a life threatening illness. Go to www.okotokswishmaker.ca to register today. I am already looking forward to this great event as last year was just such an amazing experience.

Well this week is the start of a full NHL season. All but one of the 82 games the Flames play will be on TV. My Lord I may have to get a bigger TV.

I have a feeling the team is going to go through a tough rebuilding year and may not be competitive. Oh well, let ' s give the Flames the benefit of the doubt and cheer them on.
