Paul's Place: It is time to show we care

After the amazing success we had last year the Western Wheel will once again offer our readers the Wheel Cares campaign.

After the amazing success we had last year the Western Wheel will once again offer our readers the Wheel Cares campaign.

Last year we raised more than $26,400 allowing us to donate about $6,000 to four worthwhile local charities: The Foothills Country Hospice, Rowan House, Sheep River Health Trust and Okotoks Food Bank.

We are truly grateful for the support we had last year and we are hoping we can do it again this year. I believe, with the people and businesses we have in our community we can.

Challenge a neighbour, your co-workers, another business or sports team and lets see what we can do this year!

We have also added another charity this year as The Magic of Christmas will also benefit from Wheel Cares.

For more information on how to donate call the Wheel at 403-938-6397 or go to our website www.westernwheel.com

The Rotary Performing Arts Centre will be a busy place this month. Deni Kobialko will be performing at RPAC on Nov. 6 at 8 p.m. What makes this concert unique is all the proceeds are going to local charity, but the artist is asking the public to select the charity. There are many worthwhile causes at this time of year to email [email protected] with their choice. To purchase tickets to see Kobi in concert call 587-223-9197. Tickets cost $15 in advance or $20 at the door.

I know it is only the first week of November, but it is time to start thinking about your Christmas shopping. One of the best places to get some shopping done is the Christmas in the Country Art Sale at the Leighton Art Centre. This is a great little place with stunning views of the mountains. It is free to attend and there will be hundreds of original art from some of Alberta’s finest artists. Best of all there is a wide price range so there is something for everyone. The sale goes Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. it also goes Nov. 8-11.

The renowned Millarville Christmas Market will be held Nov. 8-11 at the Millarville Race Track and it features the best of the Millarville Market as well as some fantastic new vendors.

Forget about the malls in the city and enjoy a drive in the country.
