I can’t fathom what would possess anyone to tamper with Halloween candy handed out to kids. With both Cochrane and Okotoks reporting occurrences, it isn’t an isolated incident. It makes me sad and angry to think we have such sickos in our midst.

I hope you have your Samaritan’s Purse shoeboxes well on the way to being packed. The deadline is Nov. 25.

Just bring them to Valley Neighbours Club and Virginia will see they are delivered.

A crib tournament will be held at the High River Legion on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 11 a.m. You may come as a single or a team. The cost is $10. Call 403-652-0792 for further information.

As of January, members who will be 90 or older in 2017 will become honorary members of VNC. Please make your executive aware if you fit into this category.

There are still tickets available for members to purchase for the Christmas dinner on Dec. 4. Please contact Joan Cox so you are not disappointed.

The garden club meeting on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. will welcome Mike Wilson as the guest speaker. He will enlighten us on how to successfully grow garlic.

There will be no afternoon bingo on Nov. 13.

I hope you are all proudly wearing a poppy in respect and gratitude to our veterans.
