News from the Valley Neighbours Club

Our annual bridge luncheon was a most enjoyable day. Our new convener did a superb job and she got the day going with her usual good humour. Duncan’s food was, as usual, delicious.

Our annual bridge luncheon was a most enjoyable day. Our new convener did a superb job and she got the day going with her usual good humour. Duncan’s food was, as usual, delicious. We welcomed players from many of the outlying communities, including Calgary. I was privileged to meet some lovely new people. High point went to Ed Poffenroth, possibly the oldest player in attendance.

We have passed the longest day of the year, so it’s counting down to winter - just kidding. We have an awesome summer ahead to enjoy.

Our little town of Black Diamond is joining the ranks of the big cities. We are getting a traffic light at the former four way stop at the hotel. I’ll bet it won’t be long until Turner Valley goes the same route.

Bingo and whist will take a summer hiatus, back in early September. Euchre will carry on as long as there is interest and bridge never quits, so join us at 1 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

We are so fortunate to have Hugh Kennedy on our team. He does everything so cheerfully and whatever he does is far beyond expectation. Our club is run by volunteers. We are grateful to each and every one.

Chase had his graduation day on Thursday. Grade 1 next year. Where does the time go?

Happy Canada Day. We are so blessed to live in our beautiful Canada and particularly our little valley.
