Our two little towns will be alive this weekend. It is Discovery Days in our valley. The parade starts in Black Diamond at 10 a.m. There will be a shuttle running between the two towns starting at 11 a.m.

Millennium park will have face painters, bounce houses, a climbing wall, a market and much more.

Be sure to take in the annual rhubarb festival and quilt show at the Valley Neighbours Club from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

This is organized by the Sheep Creek Arts Council and they will be serving all things rhubarb.

The Valley Neighbours Garden Club will hold its annual plant sale as well, starting at 11 a.m.

If anyone has plants to donate, we will set up on Friday at 3 p.m., but plants may be dropped off any time this week.

It’s a very simple procedure to ensure that you won’t get lost in the shuffle. I know that seniors will be notified by mail in 2017, but we’re on our own recognizance.

Congratulations to former Black Diamond mayor Sharlene Brown on her new position of CAO.

The Griffiths Centre had its casino days on Thursday and Friday.

Andy had things well organized from a great breakfast, bus transportation and willing volunteers.

From my vantage point, it was a structured couple of days and it was kind of fun as well.

We are thankful to have Virginia back home. She holds a special place in all our hearts and we are blessed to have her.
