Our floor curling turkey shoot was so much fun. Winners were: Glenn Davis, Charis Cooper, Linda Usselman and Marion Kennedy. Lunch was awesome. Floor curling resumes on Jan. 4.
We had 30 line dancers and significant others at our luncheon table on Thursday. Wonderful to have Debbie join us, her cast comes off in mid-January and we’ll be so happy to have her back with us as soon as she is able. I think our start-up date in the New Year will be Jan. 7.
We did a Christmas lights bus tour on Thursday. Our little town of Black Diamond has done a great job, we toured Tower Hill and the Warnke home and we were impressed. There are no words to describe Spruce Meadows, it is beyond magnificent. The two kilometre drive through the grounds with its 80 km of light strings and a quarter million sparkling lights will delight your senses. There is a skating rink and a nightly bonfire, so bring your skates, sticks and marshmallows and have a party with your kids and it is all free. We came back to VNC for coffee and goodies. Thanks to Dale and Joe and MaryAnne for arranging this outing, we all enjoyed it very much.
My granddaughter and her dog went for a hike on one of the trails at Sandy McNabb and in her backpack she had an assortment of Christmas decorations. She found a suitable evergreen and decorated it, after Christmas she will hike in and undecorate it. Can’t you just picture someone coming around the corner to see a Christmas tree in the semi-wilderness. I call it her gift to strangers.
I met with Alfred Frick on Sunday. He wanted to show us the latest stain match for our trophy case, and he has it to perfection. His quote came in exactly in agreement with the original quote, despite the extra effort it has taken to match the stain. It probably won’t be in place until mid-January, but it will be worth the wait. I whole heartedly recommend Twilight Construction out of Black Diamond.
A rare full moon will coincide with Christmas this year. The full moon hasn’t fallen on Christmas since 1977 and it won’t be back for another 19 years.
