News from the Valley Neighbours Club

Our annual Christmas party was so nice. Duncan’s food was delicious, the decorating committee had done themselves proud and the weather cooperated so everyone was able to attend.

Our annual Christmas party was so nice. Duncan’s food was delicious, the decorating committee had done themselves proud and the weather cooperated so everyone was able to attend. The beautiful quilts were won by: Helen Bolkert, Maryanne Dearing and Joan Warnke and the 50/50 by Beth Carter.

The Griffith Centre’s annual meeting on Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. will be in the form of an afternoon tea. Members are encouraged to attend and present their ideas regarding the operation, management, activities and improvements to their center.

The Christmas concert in the little church in the valley was delightful. We all thrilled to the beautiful voice of Maddison Krebs and didn’t her smile light up the room? And, Eva and her “kids” never disappoint. Paul Rumbolt has moved back to his native Maritimes. This was his church and his absence left a sadness in all of our hearts.

The shoeboxes are on their way, I was a little disappointed in our Valley Neighbours contribution of only seven boxes, but perhaps our members’ dropped their shoeboxes off elsewhere. Turner Valley/Black Diamond sent 439 boxes to the warehouse. Loraine’s church in Lethbridge is the collection center for the outlying towns and they sent 8,172.

It would appear that our Christmas lights tour on Dec. 17 is a go. I don’t have specifics yet, other than we will definitely be going to Spruce Meadows. We plan to leave the VNC at 6 p.m. and the cost is $5. I’ll try to let you know more next week.

The garden club will meet on Dec. 10 at 1:30 p.m. We will be making Christmas centerpieces. Anyone who is a member of VNC is automatically a garden club member, so come join the fun.

We came through a checkstop at the Black Diamond four-way stop on Friday evening. I’m so glad to see these enforcement officers out keeping our streets safe.
