News from the Valley Neighbours Club

Line dancing resumed on Thursday, we welcomed two new dancers. There were 18 of us in attendance and four regulars are still away. Looks like this is a very popular activity this season. Thanks to the crabapple patrol.

Thanks to the crabapple patrol. There have been many pounds picked but the tree is still loaded, so please help yourself. The fruit is beginning to drop which means they are ready for the jelly jars.

Don has the tickets for our Christmas quilt raffle. He has printed 100 books, so if each of our 200 plus members buys or sells a half a book we will have reached our goal. It doesn’t seem too much to ask. Each member enjoys one or more activity at the club and keeping our building running is costly.

It’s not too soon to start thinking about our Samaritan’s Purse shoe boxes. I collect items all year, so by the time the deadline comes around, I have mine almost filled and I love this project.

The venue for Trail’s End has changed this year. It will be held Oct. 2, 3, and 4 at the High River Full Gospel Church and tickets may be purchased by calling 403-649-2701. This is the final cowboy poetry presentation of the year and always worth the cost of admission. Christine Schauer is back after a lengthy absence. We have missed her very much.

I have just spent a week in Phoenix and scratched one more thing off my bucket list. I saw the Grand Canyon and those of you who know me have rarely seen me speechless. I was totally enthralled, it is absolutely breathtaking.

I hope you all read the article in last weeks’ Wheel about the Kenya project initiated by students from the Red Deer Lake school. It is called The Building Hope Academy and it makes you realize you can start with very little and make a world of difference. If you think you are too small to make a difference, try going to bed with one mosquito in your bedroom.

I trust you got to see the incredible eclipse of the blood moon on Sunday night.
