News from the Valley Neighbours Club

The goldenrod is in bloom in my neighbourhood which, I am told, means we will have our first frost in six weeks… Just sayin’, don’t shoot the messenger. Also, this is the last week you should be fertilizing your perennials.

The goldenrod is in bloom in my neighbourhood which, I am told, means we will have our first frost in six weeks… Just sayin’, don’t shoot the messenger. Also, this is the last week you should be fertilizing your perennials. The rule is: no fertilizer after the July full moon as the plants are downloading for winter. We have a bonus this month as it is a blue moon month. The last full moon is on July 31. Looking forward to Christmas in July at the Legion No senior’s supper in August, so see you all on Sept. 28.

We spent an enjoyable afternoon at the park in High River on Sunday. They have music from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. every Sunday. You just take your lawn chair and enjoy. There were probably 150 people there and it was such a beautiful afternoon.

Thank you to Virginia and Donna for deadheading and weeding the planters and a big thank you to Virginia for the extra watering when Randy’s busy schedule overwhelms him.

We enjoyed breakfast at the Griffiths Centre on Friday morning. Bonnie is serving breakfast Tuesday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Great breakfast, cheerful cook and coffee is a bargain.

The Thursday evening movie at the library on July 30 is Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Free movie folks.

My favourite son-in-law just had knee surgery, for those of you who know him, give him a call (for sure, he’s gonna be grumpy and need some cheering up).
