I attended Meryl Coombs’ presentation at Millarville on Tuesday. There is no end to his knowledge on gardening and landscaping and he loves every minute of it. Our VNC garden club met on Tuesday for the last meeting until September. We will, however, be doing a member’s garden tour in July and if you would like to travel to Olds on June 19 to view the Wetlands Open garden at Olds college, give Bea or Sharon a call as we will be carpooling.
If you are in the market for a product to deter deer and rabbits, try Bobbex. It does the same job as Plant Skydd but it doesn’t discolor your plants. Plant Skydd is great for tree trunks, but Bobbex is better for flowers. It is harmless to pets, birds and all wildlife. Both are good products in their own right. Another awesome product is Pure Spray Green for aphids and ants and it is also an amazing fungicide. The wild honeysuckle are so beautiful in my neighbourhood, and the wild roses are filling the air with their distinctive fragrance.
I can never decide which season is my favorite: spring with its promise of new life, summer in all its splendor, autumn with its riot of color, or winter, when I am so tired of gardening, I welcome the respite.
