News from the Valley Neighbours Club

Exercise classes will start on Sept. 24 from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m.

There is a $2 drop-in fee, a sign-up sheet is on our bulletin board if you are interested. Floor curling started on Monday and we would welcome new players this season. Call Wayne (403-933-4404) if you would like to join the group. Our silent auction, in conjunction with the Thanksgiving dinner, welcomes your gently used items from Sept. 17 to 26. Other than bedding and books, we are most grateful for your clean donations.

Griffiths Centre BBQ dinner tickets for Sept. 22 are still available for pickup, daily from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and I understand the Legion has a new cook, so book your table for the September seniors' supper on the last Monday of the month.

The fourth annual family dance, sponsored by our little church in the valley, will be held on Sept. 21 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Flare 'n Derrick. Cost is $10 at the door with free admittance for anyone 16 and under. Expect awesome fiddle music by the Gates family.

Cody Follis’ concert on Spt. 8 was beyond superb. Eva’s kids never disappoint, and Bruce Hoffman, the steel guitar/fiddle backup, is undeniably super talented. Cody relinquished his encore so that Eva and her kids could perform for us, and it was “over the moon."

Don’t forget line dancing starts tomorrow, Sept. 19, 9:30 a.m. for beginners and 10 a.m. for more experienced dancers.

Happy Birthday to Don Wakelam, who celebrated his 94th last week.
