Letter: Town plows through with helping community

Dear Editor,

I was recently having my early morning coffee when suddenly heard low rumbling sound and felt a slight tremor in the house. “What is this!” Could it be the “big one?”

I stood from my chair preparing for a quick run to my bunker (actually to crawl into bed and pull the blankets over my head in fear) when I see the cause of my fear. It was a front end-loader, a skid steer, and a fleet of dump trucks in the front of my house to clear the 15’ snow hill that was piled there when the Town plowed our street a couple of weeks ago.

As my fear subsided, I watched with some amazement, but with more appreciation, the demise of the mound of snow and the sight of clear pavement, I thought of those citizens in Calgary whose streets are shown on the news as still heavily snowed over leaving them stranded now for three weeks.

How fortunate we are here in Okotoks. So a big “thank you” to our mayor and town councillors, to the various departments and personnel, and to the small army of machine operators and dump truck drivers responsible for keeping our streets safe and passable.
